  SJKT Azad All Tamil Schools
  National Level Chess Championship 2026

The Penang Chess Association, through its affiliate the Seberang Perai Tengah Chess Association, was on hand to help with technical expertise in organizing the SJKT Azad All Tamil Schools National Level Chess Championship 2026 on Saturday, 23 May. The venue was the spacious Arulmigu Karumariamman Hall in Seberang Jaya.

Mr. Kumaran Krishnan, the Deputy Chairman of the SJKT Penang Special Committee, represented YB Dato’ Seri Sundarajoo, the State Exco of Housing and Environment at the Opening Ceremony. Mr. Tan Eu Hong represented the Penang Chess Association.

In his speech, Mr. Kumaran stressed that chess not only sharpens strategic thinking and mental strength but also teaches students to make smart, calm and thoughtful decisions in everyday life. As such, the Penang SJKT Special Committee will consider hosting an annual championship involving all the SJKTs in the state of Penang. Over 400 participants from all over the country had registered for the championships which were divided into 11 categories, including Teachers and OKU. Indeed, a wonderful start! Kudos to the SJKT Penang Special Committee!
